Not really, I have done this a few times last year where I had cases where the merchant did not want to honour returns/buyers remorse etc. I agree that there might be certain restrictions with regards to what goods can be returned and depending on the case itself. For example it would be impossible to return food, just because you don't like it, but it is completely acceptable to return food because it is not up to standard (Woolies does this without a problem - i.e. you buy fruit/vegetable and realise it is not fresh - there is no issue).

Same can be accepted from shrink wrapped games as well as games where common sense prevails that no abuse could have happened. In OP's case it is common sense that since he has the digital version that (a) he would have not benefited from the purchase and (b) the PS4 game can not be copied/cracked - so what's the point?

All BT has done now is alienated a customer and if I was OP, I would not accept a refund of R120 and would simply cancel the transaction if it was electronic.

I'm not saying that OP shouldn't be allowed to return his product. Obviously any non-crap gaming store would have taken it back for store credit. I'm saying that the law isn't on his side. If a store wants to behave as BT do, they can. Hence neither me nor any gamer I know shops there.

Just because stores exist that have decided that legal action wasn't worth bothering with doesn't mean BT will take the same approach.

OP's best bet is to learn his lesson about not educating his wife about gaming matters, never deal with BT again and trade the game on SA Gamer.

ichigo's cousin IIRC

Yep and I also don't support pavillion Bt games (takealot.com all the way) after the bad service they gave and seems like it happens a lot elsewhere and they are franchise owned so each owner can run it in however way they want which sucks.

Wish they could discipline the owners and not sure if they notice, but they are losing sales to online stores.

Do your self a favor, take the knock and look at it as a very expensive learning curve. Your wife didn't make a mistake in thinking about you, if anything she's a keeper!!!! For actually supporting your gaming.

Sell the game/ trade it or give it as a gift , tell your wife you love her ,buy her flowers and forget about BT crap cause any consumer related company that doesn't understand customer service isnt going very far

I was thinking the same. Will most likely swap it with someone in my circles.

Hi,

I ordered a game online from BT Games... I have paid it already yesterday morning at 9am... I have not yet received an email saying it was successful... so I can not yet go pick it up in stores... Does anyone know how long it takes for the email to arrive?
