All BT has done now is alienated a customer and if I was OP, I would not accept a refund of R120 and would simply cancel the transaction if it was electronic.
Isn't that gonna open another can of worms?

Not really, I have done this a few times last year where I had cases where the merchant did not want to honour returns/buyers remorse etc. I agree that there might be certain restrictions with regards to what goods can be returned and depending on the case itself. For example it would be impossible to return food, just because you don't like it, but it is completely acceptable to return food because it is not up to standard (Woolies does this without a problem - i.e. you buy fruit/vegetable and realise it is not fresh - there is no issue).
Same can be accepted from shrink wrapped games as well as games where common sense prevails that no abuse could have happened. In OP's case it is common sense that since he has the digital version that (a) he would have not benefited from the purchase and (b) the PS4 game can not be copied/cracked - so what's the point?

Do your self a favor, take the knock and look at it as a very expensive learning curve. Your wife didn't make a mistake in thinking about you, if anything she's a keeper!!!! For actually supporting your gaming.
Sell the game/ trade it or give it as a gift , tell your wife you love her ,buy her flowers and forget about BT crap cause any consumer related company that doesn't understand customer service isnt going very far
