BTgames in Westgate already closed down.

They have gone down the tubes if you ask me.

Eh? Haven't they just moved closer to the Cinemas?

But yes, errors on a live system should have a very good excuse.

OMW that is crazy funny dude.

What does it have to do with linux, man o man that has to be the funniest thing i have heard this year from a linux oke :p

I must unfortunately report that the same error has just occurred to me in Linux, using FF, so as someone said, the issues are server-side.

hmmm how does a VBScript error attribute to MS?

VBScript = ASP = Run on IIS which is a Microsoft Server Product

As for testing. Client tests yes. But the programmer HAS to at least catch errors in a simple fashion.

Not this cockup just sitting there. Not being able to use the website at all.

BTGames' site has always been pretty buggy i must say. Even their rental service where you add games to your wishlist...that wishlist can only handle 10 items ..if you hit the 10 items it breaks AND lose everything in it AND gives you a nice little vbscript error.

Luckily i don't do any financial transactions on there, at best i'll reserve and go to the shop, i'll probably billed twice or something if i buy online [assuming there's no error].

Possibly everything stems from the fact they probably don't use a database? The VBScript error I got was something to do with a file error if i'm not mistaken.

If you have time please post the VBScript error here. I want to phone the CEO later today to discuss the possibility of him hiring real developers for this project to save face with the public

Well you can simulate it yourself easily, just go here and add 10+ items to your wish list : http://www.btgames.co.za/gu/home.asp and refresh a few times . You don't even need to register to do it ;).

That said, they DO warn you not to add more than 10 items [so they know their little widget is dysfuntional], BUT they are unable to warn you while you're adding...so if you're browsing and adding the stuff to maybe filter them later you're in for a surprise.

Here's the error i managed to simulate again:
Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a0005'

Invalid procedure call or argument: 'right'

/gu/gwishlist.asp, line 130

Ok, that's just wrong. Maybe they asked the boss' cousin's grade 9 geeky kid to do it? Then they might as well NOT add something if you click add and already have 10 in the basket :p

Can a non-nerd please explain in layman terms why BTgames is 'losing millions in revenue per minute' ? :p

lol... Acid, you're just giving cheapshots now, MCSE has nothing to do with coding / programming. It's a technical certification.

I think it illustrates his point pretty well. A 14-year-old with an MCSE, i.e. no real web-dev knowledge WHATSOEVER did the web-site. Don't throw those kind of comments at Acid - he is respected and revered in the Software / Web Development forums on here...

They're not. Their site is even working perfectly fine.

My word AcidRazor why don't we throw a tantrum?

Strange, I've never received anything BUT awesome service from them...

When I was looking for a copy of TBC expansion I couldn't find it anywhere in SA. They managed to get me a copy even though it was listed as out of stock on their site.

Rather unfortunate to see that their online ordering is borked. :(

Been to their Tygervalley store this weekend, and must say I'm kinda disapointed, they prices has gone up. It compares to prices of Incredible, Incredible being cheaper with some games. And when my wife wanted to buy me Guitar Hero for Krimis there was no stock of the GH3 bundle so she thought she can just buy the guitar seperate from the game, but the idiot behind the counter tuned here you dont get it seperate she must buy the world tour bundle. Now thats trying to bull**** a customer big time. Lucky she not that stupid.
