budget phone - R2500 or less

If you're set on buying new, Motorola G14 for R2199. 4GB RAM, 64GB UFS storage (rather than EMMC), has NFC, side mounted fingerprint reader, 1080x2400 screen.

5000mAh battery but it seems to run out faster than the competition, and good lucky finding any accessories.

Didn't realize Motorola were back in South Africa. That's a very good budget phone, though camera not so great

Most of these budget phones are network locked so take note.
Another option is Mr Prices' own range :

Hi all, don't want to hijack but in same boat for 85yo mom who's 4/5/6yo entry level Samsung no longer takes a charge (varying daignosys: battery vs port). Too little memory to make repair worthwhile anyway. She's set on replacing. It's mainly used for setting reminders and WhatsApp calls/texts. Not looking for advanced, fancy or big size. Will go through suggestions posted here. But are there any other/newer deals to be had now (it's a 3 month old post)?

What is everyone’s thoughts on the Galaxy A05s?

Seems decent for the price, and should get Android updates until at least end 2025 and security updates for two years after that.

My mom’s Redmi Note 8 has some issue where she can’t load the FNB App anymore, and my dad’s Redmi Note 5 is not compatible with th Vodapay app.

Hesitant to go Xiaomi again as they don’t really seem to have anything in the same price range that matches the Samsung

As a mom/dad phone, should be more than sufficient.
