building a cheap studio

I'm looking to build a cheap studio from home..

what would be the best/cheapest lights and backdrops i can find ?
what equipment will i be needing ?

I used a durable bull denim for for backdrops (r40 for 2.30m by 1m lengths) and made a selection of stick in a can lighting stands for my hot lights.

I've long since paid my initial investment off so its time for me to start thinking about some proper studio lights next.

my brother built a studio for photography and his music and it looks awesome.

my plan is to start off with a 2 light system.. one key light. and a fill in light.

still need to find a place that sells broad material for a suitable backdrop.
i was thinking of a type of canvas. where i can paint it and rewash is when it gets dirty

Won't painted canvas crack and also give you problems when you wash it? You probably want it to drape down to give you an infinity wall effect.

i have no idea how canvas will react.. it just sounded like a good idea..lol

I recently built a light box out of Plumbing pipes and joins - its not a large shooting surface maybe 1 and half square meter's, with an infinity curve built into it. Cost me roughly 300 bucks. Lights are next on the agenda. But it offers a lot of flexability when it comes to shooting a varierty of different sized products. I had an old sheet of white material used to create the curve. It has a matte side and a glossy side depending on the needs of the shoot.
