Is Patels in any of the food delivery apps?
Last year when I visited and looking at the interior, I was just glad they accepted card payment. When I praised the taste of curries, one of the young assistant introduced some 88+ year old guy as the owner who just nodded in acknowledgement and I don't think he would care much for technology.

But, one never knows what future holds although he doesn't seem to have any successor/heir. At least those 2 youngsters in the shop were not related to him.

Yo! That was a proper hot Durban mutton bunny but 4 times the size. Haven't managed to finish it. Left some for supper. Fresh bread, tender mutton. Lekker lekker.

the owners son is a Chartered Acountant (if im not mistaken) and has zero interest in taking over and keeping the place going if he inherits it - maybe he might leave it to the current staff to carry on but i doubt they will use tech like delivery apps etc - the pricing of their food will not allow for this - its still one of the cheapest places in Durban to get the old school type of food that Indians used to eat in the 80s and 90s

Next time I visit durbs, I am going to go there every day of my visit. It is really basic delicious food and not much colorants used like they use in Jozi joints.

I've never tried Patels. Aren't they in some dodgy part of Durbs?

Finally tried the much acclaimed Happy Chappy in North Beach yesterday, and unfortunately, this was not the bunny I was looking for. I didn't want to eat it All Night Long, nor did it make me feel like Dancing on the Ceiling
