Johannesburg - Burglars walked off with toys and equipment from Narang House, home to 11 disadvantaged children suffering from diseases ranging from diabetes to kidney failure in Northcliff, Johannesburg, early on Thursday morning.
Spokesperson Pieter Ernst said they stole one of the children's computers, as well as a cellphone and a little scooter that had been donated to the centre.
Although they tried, the thieves didn't have enough time to steal the television and other electronic equipment.
The children's karaoke machine, which is used on a daily basis, was found in the garden.
Earlier this year, the centre's new bus, donated by the Royal Netherlands Embassy in Pretoria, was stolen.
"Our children don't need this, they have enough problems in their lives already. These children are fighting against their diseases to stay alive," said Ernst.
"How could one provide a stable home-environment to these children if people continue to steal things from them and most of all scare them?".
"I still don't understand how one can steal from disadvantaged sick children who have nothing else in life than the hope that Marang House provides them with."
Ernst's father, also Pieter, the founder of Marang House, was murdered last year in Hekpoort during a robbery.
my donation is on its way...how about you?
