Unfortunately, South Africa has quite a bit going against it for businesses and capitalism.

Not only is South Africa an extremely expensive country to live in, but it probably has the highest cost of living in the world.

The government is extremely anti-business and anti-capitalism. It uses its powers to manipulate, threaten or force existing businesses to feed the cronies. Their laws too are aimed at limiting operations of businesses and giving more control and power of it to government.

Then you have the South African government unleashing unions and political parties on businesses. These unions and political parties intimidate any business, often unleashing violence leading to death, destruction and losses.

Then you have a failed state. The government keeps increasing taxes but never use it to better the country or economy. There are virtually no public services remaining and businesses are required to use private services which are extremely expensive.

Of late, electricity supply has collapsed in South Africa and businesses cannot afford to keep lights on or alternative source of electricity.

So yeah, at the end of the day, South Africa is not a country for any business. The people should rather go back to old days of trade. A modern economy will not work in Africa or South Africa.
