I am sure you will grow to love your new car. The fact that you are missing your old car just shows you are a loyal person: nothing wrong with that.

Dealer would've taken the (discount) amount he had to play with on the Fiesta and applied it to the Golf to make it appealing.

Quite right - if you have say 15 000 "in" a car that you are selling, you can add that 15 k to the trade in and sell the new car at full price - swings and roundabouts, but it happens ever day. It could mean that his trade in was worth 65 000, but the extra money was used to make it sound better - that is how we get people out of settling a car when their trade in is lower than settlement amount.

Also got the ST for 260k with extras. One of the reasons I took it, seemed like a great deal. Good trade in plus fat discount. Not bad.

This was posted before while you were typing the post above.

Fiesta 1.6 GDTi ST 3 door R241,140ex vat R274,900 incl vat

You lose R 33 760 just on the vat.

Then you lose their profit. at 10% that is R24 000

Then you lose what ever profit they want to make on a used car.

Call them and ask, what trade in you will get. I am curious as well

My take, keep the ST. Way safer and better car.

Factor 14% vat and the dealer selling price with profit is approx R30 00 less than advertised.

Cpa applies... You should have no problem returning car

I'm sure there is a cool off period
...

Where do people get these ideas?

No, the CPA doesn't cover buyer's remorse, and no, there is no cooling off period. Unless the transaction was the result of a cold call or papers were signed off the dealer's or bank's premises.

Can you imagine the queues of cars being handed back after every long weekend if there was a catch-all cooling off period?

Hi there I traded in a Citi Golf for a Fiesta ST.
R80k trade in for the citi.

Its a bit of missing my old car and wanting to kick myself for sitting with extra unecessary expenses.

Stupid I know

Wow that's a lot of money for the Citi. I'd say you got lucky...Keep the Ford

I bought a audi RS3 last year on a Friday wasn't happy with the actual car returned it that Monday... Took my bank cheques back...

What was there not to like? Awesome car, I wanted one as well, but because it was limited edition dealer couldn't get one.

Which is why the dealer accepted it back - he could sell it again, no issues ;)

Well it is an upgrade, and if you are going to keep the Fiesta for long enough you will have saved a lot. The sooner you trade in your new car, the more you loose.

I think Jeremy Clarkson's and Richard Hammond's comments about the car in season 20 settles any remorse you are feeling :D
