Since the car would be 5 years old by the end of this year would it be a bad buy?
It has 32,000Km on the clock and is neat.
extended service plans are available. Price R849 000
What are you guys opinions. It would be either this car or a Mercedes-Benz A45 4Matic.
Thanks!

Depends on if its your daily driver... And if you're happy to pay for repairs (the merc will have a plan for the next 5 years)

I'd much rather go for the A45 here. The GTR is a nice car but the A45 would be new.

Have you seen what the maintenance costs for the gtr are?

The A45 would be no different.

I would go with the GTR since there will always be an opportunity to outrun a supercar, you are not going to have that opportunity with an A45.

Beating a supercar is a priceless feeling.

the A45 would have a full motor plan?

if you are indecisive between buying a A45 or GTR because of a motorplan you shouldn't be buying either car.

5-year old supercar killer, or a hatchback with a service plan? I'd go with the GT-R any day of the week - it's still my favourite/dream car. If you can afford one, you should be able to afford to maintain it, too.

So do you guys just go buying cars without checking what the maintenance costs are?
No where did I say not to buy, but getting all the facts before the purchase is a good idea, is it not?
or should this guy just buy it and hope for the best?

well I must admit I am making a few assumptions

if you are considering two high performance vehicles I would assume you know something about cars, if you do not know much about cars then you should not be purchasing performance vehicles

so I am assuming this guy knows a bit about cars and so issues about parts, maintenance etc should not be an issue.

so the only issue is which one to choose, and I would choose the GTR always

I know a bit about cars, but I doubt if I could afford to maintain the GTR even if it was given to me.

on a side note, personally I would go for the V8 M3, it may not be as fast or kill supercars with the greatest of ease but the sound with a proper exhaust is the best I've heard

ok so a fast hatch back that is so over priced Clarkson did not want to review it at all?

or the one CAR that you can race a super bike with on pull away.

I don't understand how is this a question.

there is a guy in the building of my current office that owns the AMG, his friend owns the Subaru BFR. the other day they did a bit of show off the stuff move, parked next to one another in the little side street we are in, was about 7pm on a weeknight in sandton. they pulled away like Douche bags and guess who was left in the dust? the AMG, not by much, but think about the price difference between the BFR and the AMG....

personally I would buy neither, you are going to be stuck in traffic in both. get a bike.
