Hey, I'm buying a house for 550000, how much would the property lawyer cost? I've heard conflicting accounts of people claiming either 8k or 22k. Anybody know a good property lawyer?
22k sounds about right.. will be slight variations on that based on the lawyer..

If in Cape Town, Cape Flats and surrounds..this
And where do you buy a house for 550k?
Transfer cost: R15753
Bond Registration Cost: R15753
Initiation Fee R6050
The initiation fee might have been included in your Bond though.
As far as I know it is normal practice for the seller to have the right to choose the conveyancing attorney. The buyer just gets to pay. If you haven't already signed, it is usually a good idea to get your own attorney to check the contract, and that shouldn't cost too much.

I used FNB's bond calculator. Used it for an estimation on mine and they were very accurate.bond costs seem high?
this is correct
Not quoting the transfer costs, by the looks of it. Which doesn't apply if it's a new build as far as I know. Not sure where some of you guys get such low amounts from

That would be for a house..house or flat?
My house was a new build. What you're trying to say is "when your house is registered for the first time at the deed's office, there's no transfer costs payable since the house has never belonged to anybody to transfer from".Not quoting the transfer costs, by the looks of it. Where? That would be for a house..
Where?
Where is that?it is clearly in an area yoiu wouldnt want to live or buy in
A lot of the places will advertise no transfer costs if they aren't in the developers name.My house was a new build. I also thought that it applies to new houses under R900k, until I found out that my house was registered in the name of the construction company when I bought it![]()
