I am considering buying a Fiat Punto 1.4 Emotion 2010 model, well priced.

How is Fiat support, spares?

Dealership in Umhlanga area?

Thanks!

MasterParts in Durban carries a lot of parts. You will find it easier than you expect to get parts.

They won't be as readily available as it is for other makes so make sure to be proactive and anticipate the usual wear and tear parts that will need replacing in advance before a problem happens.

Parts like belts, hoses, coils etc, basically anything that could leave you on the side of the road.

Besides the Fiat fear mongering is the actually anything specific you have against the car?
Other than the deserved poor reliability index scores of Fiat and also having owned a Fiat thus knowing the awful build quality first hand, no absolutely nothing against Fiat.

As for the 2021 versions. I don't believe there's a difference between any budget brands.
Support in SA is extensive.

It's on auction tomorrow at Burchmore Durban.

The car has done 90,000km, full service history, good tyres, aircon works , looks clean.

Trade price R56K

Of course all auction buys are risky, but if no one wants the car, it can go for a good price.

The buyer decides how much to bid.

pretend you own that specific one, call around and get service quotes for minor/major services, then call around to get an idea of trade in price, as it stands, year model, mileage etc. why is it well priced? insist on a full dekra report.
It's a Fiat, there's no mystery around that.

The Panda is supposed to be very good.

Fiat definitely means pitiful resale value so factor that in.

Is Fiat in any engine partnerships like Nissan/Renault and if so what are the good engines?

Engines are usually trouble free lumps of metal, the simpler, the better,in this case there's nothing much to go wrong on the 1.2l or 1.4l NA engine. In all the history of troublesome cars it is never the engine that self destruct with no reason, it is usually a baffling electronic problem or a user related issue like driving without coolant or oil or ignoring a problem that should be fixed hoping that it goes away all on it's own.

I don't know, you can never underestimate an Italian vehicle, anything can go wrong.. and bankrupt you!

What I am asking is are there any engines in the Fiat range that are well known to be bulletproof?

Those are normal the vehicles to get, low maintenance and hassle free.

Even the illustrious VAG has had a fair rash of totally sht engines in recent memory, like a few variants that have widespread catastrophic failure under 100,000km.

Edit. #Italian
