I'm reporting posts like this from now on.

Why? If it's related to the salary...some companies want the candidate to mention how much they want to be paid, and present a pay slip. That way, ctc may possibly be less than budgeted.

There was another thread, and this is exactly what the problem is. Salary Highly negotiable can mean anything from R5000 - R100000 per month, so no one has any idea what level of expertise a company regards a person at (even if they meet the specs provided). Solid knowledge also means different things for different people.

Many developers have applied for jobs and it turned out to be a waste of time. At the very least give a ballpark figure.

Companies that want you to propose a salary to try and score a few bucks, are also probably best to avoid. Developers want to be paid what they are worth and what a company is willing to pay for them, not the other way around where they have to say what the minimum figure is that they are willing to work for.

Anyway, that's the long and short of the other thread if I remember correctly.

Well this is Osiris.... online gaming (international market)... they have cr@p loads of money... and they are probably consolidating and expanding at a rate of knots like the other online gaming companies are in this country.... so if you are a dev - go and chat to them.. but know what you are worth. If you rock - they WILL pay you!

It also just so happens that you get there, tell them how much you want and they all start pulling funny faces. Seems like most companies want a top notch dev at "market related" (read: half the price) salaries.
