Well, government don't have a share in MTN. Only an indirect share in Vodacom. So i think it's safe to assume they couldn't care less what anyone at MTN says

Provided there are many players involved, enough to preclude a monopoly, a duopoly or a cartel.

And there should be no restriction to new entrants.

Remember that Sat-3 is currently in "private" hands, and we are being thoroughly raped.

Pay-tv is currently in "private" hands and we are being thouroughly raped.

Cellphone companies, banks and the motor vehicle industries in SA are little more than cartels. And we are being thoroughly raped.

The motive of "private" is "profit". Only the existence of many players and a level playing field ensures that those profits do not become excessive.

We are very, very far from that ideal situation in SA telecoms.
