Is CA not a donor state, ie they pay more in taxes to the fed than they receive back? Also things like military paychecks and veteran benefits come to mind as they serve(d) the country as a whole.
the people of the state will pay the same taxes as someone in Mississippi if they earn the same amount.

i believe the state itself contributes nothing to the federal government.

military and veteran benefits is supplied by the federal government.

you are thinking national guard, i'll have to look up where they get their money from...never really cared about the weekend warriors.

This is an old article about this

https://www.theatlantic.com/busines...tates-are-givers-and-which-are-takers/361668/

I love Colorado

This is the actual revenue per state

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_tax_revenue_by_state

This is based in dependency on federal funds for moolah

https://wallethub.com/edu/states-most-least-dependent-on-the-federal-government/2700/

I think that California Is just about a donor state, but not by much
read the comments...seems the users are finding fault in the information.

Ok, then find your own information. I doubt that you will find California Is a net leacher. And I found reports that showed California bring more of a donor state.

Where exactly are you getting your info from (apart from unknown people comments at the bottom of articles)
I wasnt fighting with you...just wanted you to read the comments. But if you want to get your panties in a bunch...then by all means go ahead.

do they pay state or federal taxes?

no....just cause they pay one tax and not the others that all other americans have to pay does not means it's ok for them to be illegals.
No of course not.

I’m just saying they do still add to the economy and it’s not a completely free ride.

I don’t know the American system too well but would they really pay much of anything anyway even if not paid in cash?

It's the internet. Know-it-all anonymous people of all sorts reside there and make all sorts of noise. A typical example is the bs gun knowledge on the last Vegas attack thread.

They pay income taxes, property taxes, sales taxes, many pay into social security but can't get the benefit, so they're a net contributor.

Also:

The Congressional Budget Office reported in 2007 that "the tax revenues that unauthorized immigrants generate for state and local governments do not offset the total cost of services provided to them" but "in aggregate and over the long term, tax revenues of all types generated by immigrants—both legal and unauthorized—exceed the cost of the services they use."
