Just for research purposes, is advertising on your site a feasible way to fund not only your site, but also allow for growth?

Obviously site traffic is a big factor here but for a small starting out site that wants to provide industry news to a specific sector, does advertising provide enough revenue to maintain stability or are other factors at play to fund it?

Also what advertising is best in SA? Google Ads or directly approaching businesses in that sector with advertising opportunities?

One last thing, more traffic = more money? Is it really that simple?

More traffic = more money.

Adsense is a great start as it's easy to use and they now support EFT payments.

What do you consider decent revenue?

My server costs $10pm and makes way more than that, however it's not something to live off unless you doing at least 100 000 users a month (Adsense would pay decent salary with that for 1 person to give you some scale)

There are other ways to monetize traffic if you want to PM me
