  • Krotoa - they already have Dawid Stuurman Airport - Gqeoberhgha

  • Desmond Tutu

  • Taliep Petersen-muslim and brown people awareness and a GBV victim

Dear Naming of Things Committee,

I once had a German Shepherd called Cossack.

He was very nice and even barked when strangers came near the property.

The renaming to Cossack International Airport is critical to his heritage.

Thanking you in anticipation.

My baggage got stolen at Desmond Tutu.
Toilets not cleaned by striking airport workers, Desmond Tutu smells like Sh*t!
Child smuggling syndicate working out of Desmond Tutu.
Drugs found hidden in back passage of Desmond Tutu.
I became a mile high member flying into Desmond Tutu.

Just some of the examples why I wouldn't.

This is why I suggested Jacob Zuma Airport.

Everything needs a dead cadre's name

Krotoa wasn't a cadre. She lived in another time, but her history should be limited to the VOC entries which wasn’t all Dutch and colonialist. Museums, libraries and the bastion already serve to preserve its memories.

I am curious why there is an insistence on this name change: what is spurring the proponents on?

I see the First Nation Collective is also involved here, or so the SABC said, those who oppose Amazon's development. They are invoking the UN call to recognise indigenous rights.

I have no idea about the Krotoa Foundation who made the petition to the government, but I guess it is a First Nation Collective initiative. Don't know, need correction.

Well there seems to be some link to Krotoa Media, which only seems to come into existence about 2 years ago and also seems to somehow be linked to ICOSA

Most likely its a special interest group trying to get attention. No one really wants this.

For the government this is low hanging fruit.

With the exception of the money being spent, I DGAF what you name anything, it will not change how inept the government is or how it fails completely to address the real issues in this country while trying to apply 'window dressing' to anything and everything.
