Calls for 'corrupt' Sita to be shut down

The State Information Technology Agency (Sita) faces threats of being shut down after MPs were up in arms over its failure to fix the IT systems of government departments.

Some of the departments have also complained about the quality of service offered by Sita. Some MPs said there was no need to continue having Sita in place if it failed to deliver on its mandate of managing the IT infrastructure of the state.

Minister of Communications Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams said there were discussions on the future of Sita.

She said this followed a pronouncement by President Cyril Ramaphosa, earlier this year about what role Sita should play.

They made it corrupt and useless so that they can outsource the service to their friends.
You are seeing the reality of your ANC champ. Finally.
They are all self serving. They don't give a toss about your support on mybb forums here.

Wha ha ha ha ha ah aha ha ha ha ah ah.... the AA bug has bitten, sickened and killed its host.

Besides, government does not have many to pay the private sector to do its IT. It can't even pay annual licenses of software they use. So, they know well this is not about corruption, but rather the ability to do their work properly.

And you champ are educated. Don't keep pulling yourself down to their level by supporting them. This corrupt thieving ANC is not worthy of your support as a hard working, honest citizen.

Who is 'they'. There have been perpetual witch hunts for a while now. Even a contract with a firm that saw drastic scope creep to do perpetual investigations ($$$ for them). In the process people became to paralyzed with fear to make decisions, even good comptent ones.

Where procurement does happen, the decision makers are overridden by people with no tech expertise, but they are compliance experts. You see the strangest mish-mash of kit, perfectly as ordered, but don't work together. Very little appreciation for the difference between hardware and software and decisions get made, bad decisions (if somebody tries pointing it out, refer first paragraph). And a server is a server, right? So some of the tenderpreneurs think, nvm if it's R50k bottom end server of a R5m top end server, that RX is appropriate for all servers, hardly knowing anything else than a PC. They kill the real expertise destroying the market for themselves. Don't say it though.

The sweating assets are sitting in rooms with no aircon, some leaking, not really fit for purpose. The govt client has no money - you make it work because "i say so". Where there is aircons, some break and is down for months because a tender is not available/the new contractor hasn't go a clue. Or only one person can sign for repairs, not available for the next week. (client premises and kit, sita staff).

In the meantime the staff get blamed for running the client's old kit into the ground sweating assets (20yrs old stuff) with no maintenance and no budget from the owners to replace it. We do get these specialized bits of kit at Incredible Connection, right? Then an entitled expectation from govt depts that industry is at their beck and call to fix things if it breaks at the drop of a hat, where no contract is in place, expect them to neglect paying clients. Oh wait again - didn't we see that at Eskom. Ain't gonna happen sunshine.

Tbh, it's a shambles. A case of kettle, meet pot. I feel sorry for the innocents though. Some just waiting for retirement to get out of the circus. Sad.

If we're gonna start shutting down corrupt agencies, we may as well just sink SA into the depths of the ocean

Well the anti corruption measures once proposed in the 90's was turned down. The quote provided wasn't even substantial, for the software and hardware. The savings for all the SEO's was obviously huge.

Later in even the PP office wasn't allowed to demo the software to see the leaks it was facing.

No measures will be allowed that will stop the corruption and failures by employees.

Government IT is in shambles. I remember doing a security review for one of the departments and their system patch levels was at "2002 level" basically I have never seen a vulnerability scanner light up like that before.

Some of the staff I met didn't even know what a key logger was and its use. That was a CCNP.

Everything. What I know is that SA is ****ed. It did not have to be this way.

But Noone listens. People say it's gonna be ok.

Nope. I deal with the ANC voters here. The people that keep the pricks in power with their smart suits and cars.

They.just.dont.get.it.
Oh well, it's probably an African thing.
Lemme just stop.

Good... I spent 6 months trying to get a VPN link sorted out by Sita and eventually gave up... beyond useless.
