Can an ADSL2+ Router be used as a Router?

Ive An Edimax AR-7084A ADSL2+ Router.

Can this be used as a stand alone Router to receive internet via a LAN cable from my existing Modem / Router which is about 50M away?

Probably would need to switch off DHCP and get that from the existing one.

Yeah it would then act as a switch basically.

Switched off DHCP, made some other minor adjustments and its working.
