Can I add a once off bundle to a 2gb mtn data sim on contract?

I do it all the time on my Voda 1gb data sim when I use up all my data and the same on my MTN 75Mb...just sometimes get weird amounts of data that in theory I have left if I use *111*500# on Voda or *141# on MTN.
Both my Voda and my MTN contracts are capped though so they have no choice but to use the bundles I have added....cannot bill me OOB rates.
