Can I use a deregistration certificate to change ownership?

I am thinking of buying a code 3 repaired car, however the dealership selling this car says that the car is dealer stocked and they will provide the deregistration certificate as papers to register the car on my name and I would also have to do a police clearance. Does this sound right?

"Code 3" and a car should make you want to run in the opposite direction as fast as humanly possible...

No matter how good of a bargain the car may be, is it really worth it..???

Too much hassle, unless it's a collectors item, in which case you should be prepared for the long road in getting it on the road.

If you don't want to spend a lot it of time when stopped at a roadblock, don't buy a code 3.

De-registered means the vehicle was scrapped.

I would strongly advise against buying any code-3 vehicle that was scrapped and repaired. It's just asking for trouble.

A MASSIVE black hole of issues.

You'll struggle to insure it properly if at all.

You'll need more than police clearance. Data dot, roadworthy, weight certificate and a few other things off the top of my head.. Rather walk away..

If you have to ask these questions, do you really think your are in the position of being a Code 3 car owner? Is there really no other Code 2 car in your price range?
