My cap is finished this month and I bought airtime. Trying to convert into data bundle with one of the promotional data sticks doesn't seems to work at the moment. I sent *147# from the Cell C software, follow all the prompts and I get at the end:

You request could not be processed at this time. Please try again later or call 140. Cell C.

Calling 140 didn't help. They said, I have to speak to technical support and put me on hold indefinately!

Sometime last week the same method worked on my speed stick. What is going on Cell C???

And does anyone know an alternative method to convert the airtime to data?

Yeah, experiencing the same thing. Can load smaller bundles, but not the 3GB bundle I want. It worked before, so could the person who screwed it up please undo whatever they did?

And don't bother calling or emailing them: the automatons they employ don't know what they're doing anyway. Still waiting for a call-back or a reply to my mail, or even better, a resolution to this stupid problem.

In the meantime, I've set up my MTN SIM again - in the Cell C modem. The Cell C service in my area has gone to the dogs, and at least I know MTN will always WORK.

Just got a call-back saying my bundle had been loaded. Seems something goes a wrong when one bundle hasn't expired or something. Currently in the sticks, so will check it out when I get home later.

Well, someone from Cell C contacted me and they loaded the data manually. However their reponse was that I already loaded another 1.2GB bundle earlier this month and I can not load the same or lower amount data bundle until the end of the month. Apparently I can only load higher data bundle now. This just doesn't make any sense to me as I should be able to load any data bundle at any time.

Cell C, please sort out your system!

And the 140 support personel didn't have a clue to even advise me on the above yesterday.

I'm also experiencing the same thing.
I reloaded with a R150 (500mb) bundle earlier this month.
I want to load another R150 (500mb) bundle now.
I get get the same 'You request could not be processed at this time. Please try again later or call 140. Cell C' reply on modem request, and no joy when doing it with sim in phone.

Nowhere in the terms of service or data pages on the official Cell C web page does it mention you can not reload data bundles more than twice a month, or have to reload with a bigger value bundle.

Come on Cell C. Your company's customer service and offerings are going form bad to worse. Get rid of that 'clown' CEO publicity stunt (Trevor) and get serious.

I have been corresponding with LPR on the ongoing airtime to bundle conversion problem.
It appears that the new billing system they recently installed is faulty and does not allow users to convert airtime into bundles in the same denomination twice in a calendar month.
As a result, if you need to top up your data again, you are forced to convert to a higher or lower bundle.
This happened on two separate occasions with me.

LPR has indicated that Cell C are working on the problem.
According to him it's an error in the business logic on the new billing system.
They are are readying a new software release where this will be hopefully solved and implemented in the next couple of days.

This is good to know but how the whole software system got implemented network wide without testing first and discovering the problem before it goes live? That sounds more like management and project planning issue than simple software problem. This is failure at top management level at Cell C!

@marlboro Have you had any joy with this yet? I emailed them yesterday and had a response at around 12:00 today saying that the issue is being investigated and that they will manually load the 3GB for me in the meantime, but as of now I'm still waiting. Yet another bandwidthless day down the drain for me. :(

I'm seriously thinking of going with the Vodacom 2GB+2GB deal instead of buying Cell C topup bundles in future, because of this. Unless I'm missing something, 4GB for R149 beats the crap out of Cell C's 3GB for R400, even though the second 2GB is only usuable between 0:00 and 5:00 and even though it's on a 12-month contract.

I got the same useless response as well!

Got a reply from Lars that this will be permanently resolved with their new version of billing system in May. Let's see how much is his word worth.
