This reseller buys from many suppliers among them, Rectron, in Cape Town. I know, I used to work there.

Are these prices reasonable?

Correct, you must be registered. Don't you know someone still working there?

I bought a replacement laptop PSU from them because the dealer I bought the laptop from had no stock. The sold to me directly, not sure of one can do that in general?

There are a couple online stores that will beat your local resellers pricing with ease, and with free shipping.

I would save almost R2000 if I could buy directly. And because my local reseller's prices are absurd.
Unfortunately that is the way it works: manufacturer -> wholesaler -> retailer -> consumer

Fair enough...I can beat your local reseller's prices hands down though if you are interested. My company buys from Pinnacle...even cheaper than Rectron so I can offer propper pricing to you.

Protectionism FTW!

This is one of the things I keep on going on about, this nonsense of only certain types being allowed to buy stuff from certain places. It's bull**** and it's raping us consumers as usual.

"...certain types..." ? Do you mean a registered IT company like mine? "Raping consumers..." It's called buisness. The distributors do not want to deal with you directly.

Seems like you are getting ripped off on those prices in any event, I would take my business elsewhere. Try some of the online shops...

Buy online. You will pay 10% extra, and it will probably be easier doing warranty returns via the reseller/retailer.

You must have a hard time buying food, petrol and clothes. Seeing as you can't buy from the suppliers/distributors. :(

In normal business, I can buy stuff from wherever I want to, as long as I have the money. Just as when I have a business, my customers are free to go and buy from wherever I get my products from, if they know about it.

If a business doesn't add any value to a product and just makes money because of stupid arrangements allowing them to buy, then they have no reason to exist, and you know it.
