I think FNB is overcharging you for electricity. At 4.7kWh, you'll only use like ~R260's worth of power a month.
They are not on prepaid.

That is what my wife and I use daily. The solar geyser and gas stove makes a big difference along with A++ rated fridge.Yeah, a colleague of mine uses around 8kWh per day, solar geyser with gas stove.
OP is not on prepaid yet - he still wants to moveI think FNB is overcharging you for electricity. At 4.7kWh, you'll only use like ~R260's worth of power a month.
ah my mistake i was thinking about the network surcharge that's about 6c per KW if you love 500KWNope, if you use zero kWh a month you still pay for the connection charges. Those are a flat rate. Check the tariff information on COJ webiste.

but seriously that insane!
the OP barely uses electricity and pays so much![]()
I'm currently paying frigging R2,36 in PTA per unit. It's insane. We don't even use that much power. We're probably in Block 2, perhaps just-just kissing Block 3.
1.1.1 141.78 - 0-100kWh
1.1.2 165.92 - 101-400kWh
1.1.3 180.77 - 401-650kWh
1.1.4 194.88 - >650
10.00 - Reverse Charge
Ya Prepaid is worth it, Im on Eskom Direct Prepaid pay about R1.46 per unit for under 600KWYes it is daylight robbery (pun intended).
At that usage level it is insane not to be on prepaid. Like I said I just changed over (a week ago) and the process was only mildly painful. Totally worth it.
