Can someone recommend a good medical aid, with good coverage?

Try profmed but are you a graduate?
That would be a good start. The closed schemes tend to be less jittery. e.g. Mine pays out all doctor prescribed pathology & radiology regardless of what is being tested for...they just assume that people have better things to do than being stuck with needles...so if people do suffer the needle treatment then presumably its legitimate. Most open med aids will want to know why...

PPS membership is open to graduate professionals who hold at least a four-year academic degree or the equivalent thereof at a University or University of Technology, that is in a profession that is eligible for PPS membership, such as an engineering degree, medical degree, Honours or Masters degree, and who are practicing in the field of their study. Membership is at the discretion of the PPS Board.

Why not just renew the license then?

Sure it costs $$$ but thats pretty much par for the course on these things these days.

Behind with my CPD points and they more than likely won't let me renew.. also in my position I really don't use it, only got it for the medical aid = CAMAF, excellent medical aid :)

Topmed is a option.. solvency ratio>100% last time I checked and specialist cover @150% of rates.

I'm on Medihelp and have been for the past 5 years. Very happy with their benefits and service. For myself and my son I pay R2500 for the Dimension Prime 3 plan (comprehensive).
