ok, as some people say Telkom should start uncapping local soon(ish), is there ANY way that that can be turned into uncapped International????

I'm thinking like getting a host with 1000 Gigs monthly traffic which will cost me lets say R800 per month or so, and then use it as a proxy or just connect to it via VPN or?????????? Baically is there a way to bypass the ISP and connect directly to that host and somehow use that bandwith there???

As you can see I'm not that clued as to if this can work in any way, so can you please share your thoughts, is it possible????

Yes it is possible, but I'm not going to tell you how.

well, I'll find out sooner or later, and I can get a host with 2000 Gigs for $130 per month with 100 Mb connection, and I'm not going to tell you from where ;)

That's nice, but how are you going to connect to it with LOCAL bandwidth?

But that's over there - not going to do you much good if you're capped internationally.

Nope, it's not possible. You would need international bandwidth to reach your server host overseas. The only way to do it is to connect through someone elses network locally, for example via a proxy, and use their international bandwidth. But I doubt anyone would be too happy with this :)

Good luck getting 1000 gigs traffic for R800 anywhere in SA. Think for hosting locally on Hetzner at least you pay around R60/gig.

Not going to be seeing uncapped local for a while antonio, the "not subject to the cap" part of icasa was countered by telkom saying they would not hardcap users but they can be charged for local bandwidth used. Technically the cap isnt effecting them but you still going to be paying for your local.

I think they're supposed to be slashes, but his shift key is broken.

Still doesn't explain why he would want so many slashes, though...

Or if they have a brain and dont care about their bandwidth as leased ines are uncapped. And he iosnt going to be using it while hes at work right..

So it should be fine. Not that they'd like it.

And if it was his company he could just go use the line all he wanted.
