I have paid numerous fines on the website, only to receive summons later on!

Now it is up to me to prove to the Metro Police I paid the fine months ago, otherwise I'll have to pay it again at a roadblock!

Has anyone else experienced trouble with paying fines online?

Only used them once, purely because Jhb. offered 50% off and I wanted to sell the car - have you contacted them?

I only use payfine and i've never received any summons or fine after i had paid.

If you go onto payfine it shows you the fines you paid so you will be able to send them that as proof.

Yeah, I'm printing out my receipts and am going to keep them in the car.

Hope I don't get arrested at work over a matter of R100 that I paid!

I have used the site. Its pretty good and can be trusted imho. The fines usually have the same photo that would be submitted with the original paper fine, so you can verify if the fine is legitimate.

I just went in there now, if you paid any fines for which they were providing refunds because the fine was not in terms if AARTO regulations they have a nice service where you click a button, provide your postal address and they send the letter to Metro Police on your behalf requesting a refund - pretty cool.

I have also never had problems with payfine.

The OP's problem is that if their system is faulty and if you get arrested over fines ALREADY paid, you are in trouble. Unless of course you have a phone with internet access and can show the kind officer the proof.

Once you have paid your fine, you really ought not carry proof around. There should not be a need for that.

Its SA, i mail myself proof of payment for anything to multiple mail addresses, and in the case of the fines, i actually do have a copy of paid fines in my car
