Wouldn't matter. If your ISP provides you with the PPPoE details, then yes, you are able to.

Cool.. I got my router currently dailing PPPoE via my adsl.. so should be a straightforward swop then.

Thanks

Sorry what now? I don't understand your argument. You would still need to get the PPPoE details to dial into the ISP's RADIUS server.
Some ISP's on Vumatel - Cool Ideas for one - do not have PPPOE, you just plug your WAN router into the ONT set your WAN port to DHCP and away you go.

Spoke to the ISP. They say trenched outside is active ethernet so it latches onto the 1st MAC address it finds so I can use my own router.

Do I need to let Cool Ideas know the MAC address of my router?

Decent ISP's don't bother with that. WTF, dial a PPPoE over fibre, guess all the ADSL ISP's do that cause they already have that in place so they use it for their fibre offerings.

Depends on the Fibre provider I guess. I have CISP on Frogfoot and I have to enter PPPoE details.

As others have mentioned you can use a MikroTik router.

It doesn't matter what authentication method they use, you just need to know how to set the router up.
