Canal+ offers to buy MultiChoice for R31.7 billion

Canal+ has announced that it submitted a non-binding indicative offer that will see it acquire South Africa’s pay-TV giant for around R31.7 billion.

In a statement on Thursday, Canal+ said it sent a letter to MultiChoice’s board containing a non-binding indicative offer to acquire all of the issued ordinary shares of MultiChoice it does not already own, subject to obtaining the necessary regulatory approvals.

What's the worst that could happen..??

...

They could hike prices for dstv premium, the slow bleed wil continue until its bankrupt in 5-10 years and thousands of people loose their jobs.

Best case scenario they move to a pay per channel basis or maybe spin of super sport.

More offshore overlords but probably inevitable for Multichoice considering their complete disconnect with the market.

Don't attempt to make a quick buck, the share price will quickly run to R105 in the first second of the market opening if the market likes the offer.

Daymn, Whadupp playaa, look at you in the middle of eskimo pie sandwich. Bet you working overtime exploring their canals

I would like to imagine that Canal+ has some sort of plan to stop the bleeding considering they made an offer to buy up the place, which I would like to think does not include price hikes..

Seems like a monumentally retarded way to waste a few billion randelas if that's their plan ...
