Howzit how do I cancel a vodacom prepaid number?

After 3 months they'll recycle the number.

Not as far as I am aware... only way (also the easiest) I know is to actually stop using the sim card and just get a new one...

Oh yes, and if they have your MSISDN (phone number), they can see your phone's IMEI. So if you did something REALLY bad, you better toss the phone as well.

If you stick a contract SIM into that phone they can trace it right to the person in whose name the contract is...

Otherwise, if you stick to prepaid they can only trace it to a 10-50m area.

Triangulation.

They check the signal strength you get between different towers. It's rumored to be even more accurate, but it's usually accurate to 10-50m in practice.

Needless to say this can only be done while you're phone is on.
