hi there please contact and cancel your sentech subscription as soon as possible it has become apparent they cannot be trusted and do not have your intrest at hand.

it is a lost cause and terminated in your own intrest unfortunaltely the only viable short term solution is ADSL the new 384kbs offering is affordable and comprable in cost to sentech.

it is advised that no contracts be signed as there are true broadband alternatives on the horizon.

Noone - remember to demand a refund of R170 for every month you've been a subscriber before returning the modem.

if you trying to get as much as possible out, keep your modem until end of cancellation month, they bill you for upcoming month, not past month.

Unfortunately since I'll be moving in 2 months time and possibly again next year .. it's not worth the disruption in service, reconnection, sign-up fees etc. etc. etc.

Rather stay with the devil I've got to know than the devil I don't

from who is this homedsl over? Is there any hidden costs on the 384kbs offer from telkom? What is the actual cost. Sorry i'm asking all this but i'm a believer in "if someone else has the info before me, he can share it and safe me time"
Thanks

the charge is much less on the line 33% less for 25% less speed but the ISP charge is the same
384kbs/3Gb for 240+ there is also the 4Gb package and the new 2Gb package ... it works out the same price as sentech ... with the current problems you can only pull a max of 5Gb international only ... so there is not a big problem with capping ...

its sad to do it but it looks about equivilent to sentech

So the price will be the same for this 384kbs package with 3 gig cap (service provider, line rental etc) as the sentech 128? So R650 per month?

Don't be such a lazy bum

http://www.telkom.co.za/portal/page?_pageid=554,72063&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL&paramURL=/pls/portal/docs/page/pricing/content/adsl.jsp

It took me longer to type this than to get the info.

NOTE 16o The monthly rental covers the normal ADSL connectivity and free modem if the customer signs a 24 month contract. Should the customer cancel the service before the contract expires, a cancellation fee of R62.19 (Excl VAT) per month for the number of months remaining in the contract will be charged. The exchange line rental is payable in addition to the connectivity and ADSL Internet rental.

ISP Account R240.00 384/3Gb (same product as 512/3Gb but as line is slower you get less speed)

Unfortunately as much as i would like to cancel my subscription, i did a very stupid thing. I moved about 3 months back, and moved out of coverage of any sentech tower. I had a dish installed to get me back into the coverage area. That did cost me a substanstial amount. So now i am just gonna stick with sensucks and pass over the connection to someone in my house till something worthwile comes out. Also if anything else comes out i.e. Iburst,etc.. I am gona give them alteast 6 months before I even attemp to join. I have learnt my lesson with sentech.

I think I'm going to follow suit and cancel months end, leaving me with the connection until the end of October, after which, I guess, it's ADSL.

I'll be on my final month of paying them off the amount they didn't charge me for 3 frikkin months - luckily I arranged to get that paid off bit by bit.

The thought of going back to Hellkom isn't pleasant, but this new deal of thiers looks reasonable enough - assuming it doesn't take 6 weeks to get it installed.

Sentech have had thier chance, they can go FU CK off with thier CR AP service as far as I'm concerned - this traffic shaping SH IT is just too much.

For a service which showed so much promise for the first month I had it, it's gone from bad to worse to better to worse - there's simply no continuity of service. 4.7kb international on a 128k - SC REW THAT !
Bittorrent downloads that slow all other protocols to a crawl, even though they are using 2k of bandwidth Up/Down ? - SC REW THAT !
A company so incompetent, they get advise from thier users in a meeting, after MONTHS of BLAMING those users for thier network woes - WTF ? - SC REW THAT !

Sentech, get your house in order - your service is disgustingly bad - you make Hellkom look positively brilliant by comparison !

So, Bye Bye Sentech, better luck with your Cell Phone bid ... [xx(]
