I was one of the first loyal customers to sign up with Telkom LTE in July 2013, with a 3yr contract, for my residence as it was not possible to get a DSL line in (too far from the nearest exchange). A yr or so later Telkom offered the 50gig package and I called in to upgrade my 20gig cap. It was all done telephonically and was pretty quick if I recall.
Currently, with no need for the contract (as fibre has now been deployed in yet area), with 6 months left on the original contract, I need to cancel. The call centre is not able to tell me what the cancellation costs are. They referred me to the store. The store has no clue either and just says I should fill in a cancellation form. Further, both said that I have 18 months of my contract left - apparently when they upgraded my 20gig to 50gig, the term of the contract was reset!!! I was never informed of this.
Two questions:
1. Why is it so difficult to get a quote for cancellation from the call centre?
2. How is it possible that Telkom reset the term of my contract without me legally signing or being informed such.
Thanks
