Hi all,

I am currently assisting a friend who wants to cancel their DSTV price lock (agreement entered into in April 2019) as they want to move onto various streaming services only and to save on the massive DSTV cost per month.

Does anyone have experience with cancelling a price lock contract and do you perhaps know how the cancellation fees are calculated and what sort of fee they would be looking at seeing as they have only been on the contract for 7 months out of the total 24 months?

Appreciate any help, thanks!

Haven't been unfortunate enough to get locked into a DSTV Price Lock contract, however having investigated opting out of other 24- or 36-month contracts early, usually the contract terms dictate that you are required to pay up the sum total of the remaining months, plus possibly an additional early cancellation penalty fee - but read the cancellation clause in the contract.

Best would however be to get in contact with DSTV Customer Care and confirm the options w.r.t ending the contract prematurely. Good luck.

The fee will definitely be steep.. They will try get a good portion of their pound of flesh out of the person... That is of course if anyone at MC can even fathom how to understand the request.
