Cancellation of FTTH 24 month contract.

Im in the process of considering to sign a 24 month contract with Openserve/Telkom for fibre in my complex in order to get atleast 20mbps.

Now my question is should it happen that i have to move in a years time and only lets say 10 months is left of the 24 months but at the new premises there is no infrastructure? Maybe lets say there was only ADSL or worst case there was nothing at all.
What would be the penalties? According to a sales consultant on 10213 if there is no infrastructure then they cannot penalize me only if i
Cancelled at the current premises for no good reason. And if there is ADSL at the new premises then i would be moved over to ADSL with the equivalent package.

I had the same dilemma with parent place and also with Vuma in my place.
Telkom will charge 1 Month + R2280.00 + R570 + The full device cost even if the infrastructure is not available.(24 Months Contract)
ISP not with Telkom infrastructure will charge R1710 + R999 + Router cost.(12 Months Contract).

I ended up going month to month through an ISP and bought own router devices.

Ok well with Fibre they install a ONT with a WAN port if im correct? I dont want or need a modem or wifi router already have them.
What is the break down of the R2280 and R570? I get the one month is like a months notice i assume?

yes, with A WAN port.
R2280 installation and R570 Activation cost. Yes 1 month notice.

If i may ask. How many months was still left on your contract? i assume you had 20mbps fibre? Or what package did you choose?

I never touch contract specially with Telkom. It's a 10 Mbps. Since I ask them 3 times plus my ISP for confirmation.
ISP, told me, I will have to pay Telkom (R1500 + activation fee + any devices) if I cancel, that's a minimum.

Now with telkom.
The first time said only 1 month notice on the phone. The day I went to sign contract they told me I will have to pay a penalty if I cancel early, I ask how much and they told me only after I sign up will it reflect and SOOO I told them to keep they crap. I went to another branch and ask for manager to confirm penalty. The manager confirmed its 1 month notice + installation + activation + Device cost(R4800 if I cancel within 24 months as someone tried cancelling). To cancel with Telkom is a mission on it on, so I went through an ISP, Installation took little longer but paid upfront fee of R2070(including router). I am connected 5 months already.

Same I did with Vuma, I paid they fee of R1710, now just waiting for ADSL to disconnect and will apply Crystal Web(R999 activation fee).

Just take it on month to month from Telkom and buy the router yourself if you can't re-use your existing ADSL router (needs a WAN port).

Talk to your complex. Installation is normally paid by the body corporate if Telkom is going to install fibre in all the units.

Thanks awesome! Seems like it started recently? Thing is. They are just not clear on the 20mbps softcap one if installation is free on month to month aswell like what they clearly state with the 10mbps uncapped.

Well tbh if its only on the 10mbps uncapped one only..then im going to apply for that for R799 and then after one month switch over to 20mbps 100GB softcap for R799.

My requirement is not so much uncapped data but speed. Can use uncapped night surfer with the faster speed

I am wondering what the procedure for cancelling Telkom fibre because of poor service is?
Have friend in Durban North who gets unworkably slow bandwidth after 6 at night and over weekends.
Anyone have any idea?
