Hi all,

I'm wondering if anyone has had any experience with cancelling a month to month contract with TM?

I am wanting to cancel my TM account as quickly (and cheaply) as possible. Today I did a live chat online and the rep said that this can take up to 21 working days and whenever the account is cancelled I will loose whatever data I have bought and paid for. I then called their call centre to find out just how long it usually takes to cancel a contract and the woman responded saying 72hrs. Which means that if I cancel tomorrow I could be out in time to avoid being billed for September.

Thanks in advance!

I know this is probably irrelevant, but with Cell C my sim was disconnected while I was still speaking to the lady on the phone. I was still billed for the whole month if I remember correctly.

Not trying to be clever, but from experience with other networks:
When you talk about cancelling contract, they think different than you expect.
Maybe you should talk about "terminating contract at the end of the month" - billing period - whathever. Just don't use word 'cancel' in any form.

Maybe some sort of notice period applies. Might have to go look at the T&C's. If there is no notice period, you will probably lose out on the fee for the month in which you terminate (and any data, minutes etc).

Hi all,

Just to update, I called them on the tuesday and by the next day the month to month contract was cancelled. I think it helped me saying that I was moving to Telkom ADSL. haha! But otherwise I was really impressed as technically I had to give them 30days notice :D
