Cancelling data bundles inconvenient

When you have a normal contract, such as a messenger contract, and you add a data bundle to it, I think it should not renew itself automatically.

The reason why it should not is that it is complicated to cancel it again.

When you call on the 25th of the month to alert Vodacom that you do not want to get a new bundle the next month, then they tell you if they take it out of the system now, you will lose the remaining data you haven't used.
So you have to call in the morning on the last day of the month.
(Inflexible system, data bundle can only be deleted altogether?)

Is it not possible to log in yourself to add and remove the bundles, and to select the option if you want it to auto-renew or not?

Another question aside, any news on when data bundle balances can be rolled over to the next month?

That doesnt sound right. I could remove my bundles myself from the VodaSP website [anytime in the month] and it certainly did not influence my -current- months bundle. I receive an invoice BEGINNING of the month for that month's bundle..so it simply doesn't make sense that you would loose your remaining data at the end of the month.

What happens if you switch bundles [high/lower bundle] ? Surely the same principle applies becaue you have to -cancel- your current bundle and -activate- the new bundle. Obviously this can not affect your current bundle.

It's what I was told yesterday morning when I called 155 and wanted to get them to stop getting a new 1GB bundle in July.

The guy said, if I take it out now, you can't use the remaining data. You have to call on the 30th at 9am.

I might try to call again to see if another person will say something else.
I'm a bit worried that if I leave it until the 30th, it won't get done and I will be billed for 1GB for July ...

I noticed there tends to be alot of confusion [at the helpdesk] between "latched-on" bundles on voice contracts and pure data-contracts. Since there are 1GB and 500MB data contracts vs. voice contracts with 1GB and 500MB bundles i think alot of misunderstandings arise.

Heck in my case i originally removed my 250MB bundle [myself via website] and couldnt add the 500MB bundle [because it wasn't there for some reason]. Vodacom ended up migrating my entire voice-contract to the 500MB data-contract instead of adding the bundle. When i asked them "hey this is cool, keep it like that" they suddenly changed their tune and said it is not allowed, the month after that they migrated my entire data-contract back to the voice contract and latched a 500MB bundle onto it.

Point of the story? My "current" monthly bundle i was using when doing all above stuff, was never affected. I didnt suddenly loose my "current" month's data because i dropped the 250MB bundle etc etc. Everything i do on the VodaSP website is actually merely saying "this will happen next month", so i assume you can go wild on there knowing it will only go in affect 1st of the next month. I dont see why it would be any different when you call the helpdesk, because they are eseentially logging into the exact same site and doing the exacyt same thing....

I could never manage to create an account to log into the VodaSP site, only into vodacom4me.
If you can let me know under what option I can actually register there, it would be very helpful (exact URL) and what details I need to register there.

Try here:

https://www.vodacomsp.co.za/wps/portal/!ut/p

All you need is your phone number [on your account].

[of course assuming your contract is via Vodacom and not 3rd party like Nashua/Autopage, then you need to go through them i believe]

This is pretty cool, I try now to disable the service myself, see what happens :)

GP1G 3G - One Gig Bundle R525.44

deactivated

I wonder if they will now bill me out of bundle rate until end of this month or if I can still use the remaining data I had left in the bundle

Well if you were already using a bundle -this- month, i can't see how they can ditch it mid-month and bill you out-of-bundle AND for the bundle [which you haven't used up]. So i'm pretty sure your current 1GB will continue to be in effect till end of the month [or until you use it up].

Besides if you tihnk about it, it's rather absurd to call 9am on the 30th/31st of each month to adjust your bundles. If you want to overload [and kill] a system tell people they have a really small timeframe [as in a single day] to adjust their entire months bill.....

Btw you can check usage on that same site too [just like on vodacom4me].

I know, I find it absurd, too - and that's the reason for the thread ..

I already have a billing dispute where I was billed out of bundle although I had a bundle and I had data unused that month in the bundle, and it's not being credited back (as of now, 2 months after the event)

goodgirl,

Changing the next month's bundle won't affect the current month as Diabolus explained. I'll inform 155 of the feedback you got so they can rectify it.

If seen the credit on your account being passed a while ago (for that original stuff-up). Please let me know, via PM, if these have not yet appeared on your bill.

I just can't believe it !!

Ok, I just got back to south africa, to find out I was billed EVERY month for the 1GB data bundle!

I disabled it before I left, as per the suggestion here in the thread, and I had checked that it was gone on 4me and it was.

And all invoices show it, it's a lot of money every month.

From start to now I had nothing but trouble with Vodacom, from getting signed up to the service.

I could not get roaming, and that turned out to be crippling for my business, because I could not do my online banking overseas, because Nedbank sends an SMS to the phone when I need to add new beneficiaries to my online banking, so I could not pay any bills, suppliers, because I could not roam and receive my sms. The bank would not change the number , there was nothing they could do for me, thanks vodacom.

I will call about the totally unused data bundle tomorrow, but what's my chances, they will just say, yeah how? you disabled it? you should have called us again on that specific date ......

Goodgirl, I had the same problem with an SMS bundle - cancelled on the Vodaweb site and it was gone the next month but on the 6th they reactivated it automatically. All I can say is don't use the web for anything anymore and rather phone 111.

I logged a complaint and I got a refund after a couple of calls a month later. If you experienced the same problem as I did the disconnect request will have gone through and Vodacom will have a record of it. You then just say you never reconnected which is true and they must prove your authorisation if they disagree.

Agreed, the bundles run from the 1st to the last day of the month, so best to try 2 change your bundle on the last day. Also best to do so thru 082 111 or 082 1082.
:p
BIG PS: pls note that Vodacom now have "Adhoc-bundles" available, so if u are running up huge megabytes in one month, you can either add it thru Vodacom4me (when it is up) or call a Vodashop or 111/1082 to have a once off bundle activated 4 that month. Hence, no monthly fee, it is once off, and no carry-over!

Goodgirl, I saw your credit instruction go through, so please watch that you receive it.

I will watch out for the credit, thank you again V3G for helping with this!

It's more of a back-up for me, if something goes wrong with Telkom ADSL or I get capped or I am on the road - for exclusive use the 3G is not fast and stable enough yet.

They told me about Adhoc-bundles, that sounds great.

I've confirmed that you can change your data bundle ANY TIME during the month and that those changes will only take effect the end of the month, for the next month.

You do not need to wait till the last day.

If you're being told or are seeing anything differently, please PM me with all the details and we'll take it up.

Correct, you'll pay for the pro-rate period of the month.

I see the bug on Vodacom4me when it comes to changing add-on services is still there.

I activated a 500Mb bundle while I was waiting for HSDPA to get sorted (the advanced slot issue).

I de-activated the bundle once HSDPA was up, and realised I'd be billed for another month. But I'm still being billed.

Called Vodacom who, after I demonstrated that if you de-activate the bundle as instructed - ie. set the MyMeg0 option, the 500Mb bundle gives a notice that it will teminate at the end of the month - but also apparently re-activates itself a few seconds later.

The active service screen on my side is hilarious. A whole bundle of MyMeg0 subscriptions... Apparently on their side they see a series of MyMeg500 service terminations and activations.

I'm posting this because obviously there is a bug in the software, and given the topic came up here last year and still exists, the message is obviously not getting through to the programmers who need to fix it.

Maybe it will this time.
