Hi there guys,

Come monday, if speeds don't improve for me, I'm cancelling MyWi

What number do I have to fax my cancel letter through to? And how would I follow this up? Because knowing them, they won't even bother to call me...

Hell, my gran on a scooter with a memory stick is faster than Sentech's MyWireless!

thanks for that info. *writes down number* phoning them on monday as well.

got meself an SMC 802.11g Wireless access point and my new DSL modem will plug nicely into it for nice, reliable internet access - not this crap that they're trying to sell to me...

Izan - I kept my pathetic Mweb connection going while having 128MW - where I live there is no ADSL. At the moment, with MWeb's silly Propell download accelerator, browsing on MWeb beats the **** out of my 128MW browsing, specially international. On download via FTP (that I do quite a lot to my O/s site) I get about 4KB/s on my "NARROWBAND" Mweb connection (my modem connects at 33.6 baud due to crappy telephone lines). On Thursday I was using FTP continiously for 8.5 hours on my "BROADBAND" 128MW and guess what my average throuput for this total was. Yes you are right - 4Kb/s. So no matter how much technospeak you may use and what you lies you dream up, I am not paying R650 p/m for a Broadband service that gives me the exact same service that a crippled (33.6b) Narrowband dialup gives me. I mght be stupid but I'm not a fool, Or am I?

Thanks noone. For other people like me that doesn't use this forum as much as you should, the info is here:

Clive, shouldn't you be able to use mweb's proxy, being a subscriber? If they use username&password auth and not your ip for auth then that might just help you a bit.

Just taking a shot in the dark - koffie het nog nie ingeskop nie....

kj - That sounds like a good idea. Do you know what is the mweb's proxy IP address?

Yea well, I'm actually thinking of using Storm's uncapped service, but I'm going to wait a while. Decided to downgrade (force them to downgrade me) from October onwards till I see some improvement. No use forking over 1.5k a month for 200k speeds

hmmmm,.....ALL the users of 512 package are online ALL the time, some are probably just sending keep-alive pings but still getting their full share of the 512 package bw pool (which is quite small, cos there aren't so many users).

....just a thought....

wouldn't explain my dead set 14kb/s I'm getting

No bursts whatsoever, even interupted the orc that called me today and wanted to bull**** me re: contention, told him I understand contention, but if I contended for bandwidth, I won't have rock solid speeds of 14kb/s for 2 straight weeks, should have bursted

but yea.. whatever :p

noone,

phone them and tell them to downgrade you immediately, I bet that you'd get better speed with 256. they can pass a credit for the difference....(like they'll get that right [;)])
