I 've just got the Vodacom 3G USB modem, and I'm having strange problems - anybody else experiencing this? On 3 different PCs, and 2 different browsers (FF and IE), I cannot connect to any secure sites (https) - e.g. Standard Bank. I have no such problems when I'm connected through ADSL. I also cannot check my email unless I replace the POP server name pop.****.co.za with the IP address. Seems like either a DNS or a port blocking problem (btw I have turned my firewall off, just incase).

EDIT: Placed a call to Vodacom data support, after initially being told that the problem must be at my end, I was then told that they are busy with software upgrades in some areas, and that I need to connect to the unrestricted APN to solve this problem. I'm waiting for that to be activated, but surely new 3G users are not all having to request and change to a different APN just to check email and access secure sites????

Having the same problem!

Thank goodness there is someone else with this problem.

I had a sim swop on Sunday and got a 64K Sim for my handset. Presume you also have one with the data card.

And from yesterday I couldn't access my e-mail from the phone (Gmail with SSL authentication). After a lot of browsing and testing I also saw I cannot connect to my bank's website. So I also cannot access any form of secure service. I am working on a solution and will post once I have it!

Try changing your dns servers to 208.67.222.222 208.67.220.220

I think you might have a different problem, I've escalated it. Should have an answer today.

What ever this means? Wonder if it is English? Both my devices connect perfectly to Https sites.

It means Greg Brits posted 5 years after the last post. i.e. he revived a "dead" thread, hence the necromancer reference.
