Problem :
If you want to keep your existing number then you have to pay for that separately and new fibre package R649 which also has voice service. ...

one of the Option is to get uncapped internet at R599 but speed is up to 4Mbps on dsl which includes existing landline

Why did telkom convert us to wireless landline then install fibre ...which we can't convert too now ????

No...because my existing number cannot be converted in 649 big July deal. ..and I don't want to pay for two separate options....649 + 299 existing line. ...

That's the difference between ADSL and fibre. ADSL is a layer on top of an analogue telephone line to create digital data from analogue signals. Fibre is a digital data-only line, so phone functionality will be a data service provided by a third party.

You will need to port your phone number to a Voice over IP (VoIP) provider who will give you settings to put into your fibre router or IP phone.

Telkom converted your phone number to wireless (a SIM card actually) because they are phasing out copper land lines and ADSL, which is now a waste of money to maintain. And also because they don't offer VoIP phone services to consumers, rather charging you more for your number on their cell network.

Trust a Telkom rep not to tell you that, though.
