Probably around R30k depending on the condition of the lens.Yip I'm almost there but I'm still just fishing. This is one of the best lenses that Canon have ever released. Just fishing for prices...
How much would one sell this for?
Probably around R30k depending on the condition of the lens.
Discontinued - new they used to cost much less.*faints*
It is - if I wasn't aiming for a 400 f/2.8 I'd probably be all over this.Damn this is tempting, I'm a little worried about parts for it.
You could try outdoorphoto.co.za's classifieds, probably one of the better places to try and sell photographic equipment.

I'll make you a deal, how about I buy the 200 and we trade? If I didn't have to sell my 400 to get this I would be all over itWill probably just save up for a 200 F2 someday.
The 200 F1.8 is legendary though.... I wonder.... do I really need my car?![]()
There is a brand new shining canon 400 2.8 IS at the outdoorphotoshop in their glass cabinet waiting to be boughtIt is - if I wasn't aiming for a 400 f/2.8 I'd probably be all over this.
Second hand is good enough for me.There is a brand new shining canon 400 2.8 IS at the outdoorphotoshop in their glass cabinet waiting to be bought![]()
The only problem with the new one is that it is expected to be +- R120,000.00Second hand is good enough for me.
Besides, I'd have to have a screw loose to buy a new one now with the mkII just around the corner. Cricket season is nearly over so I've got time on my side.![]()

I saw that. On shorter lenses I'm not a huge fan of IS but it has it's purpose and on that lens I'd rather have it than not. There is a Original 400 F2.8 on Outdoorphoto at the moment for R30k, it's the non IS original version but could be worth a look?
That's not entirely correct. For a sport like cricket you can still find yourself shooting at 1/400th, particularly if you have to use a TC.For sport IS is of no use. I have been contemplating it myself. Just the weight of that monster lens which I dislike.
