Hey Guys,

Had a frustrating problem today.

I did a 3G installation for a client today.

He had a DELL D520 laptop and a Huawei E620 Data Card. I installed the Vodafone Mobile Connect Software (V7).
When I was prompted to insert the data card I did, when it got to the creating a profile screen I wasn't a able to choose a service (e.g 3G Prefered, 3G only, GPRS Prefered, GPRS only) and couldn't complete the installation.

So I removed the software and tried a different Version 7 CD and got the same result.
I tried my Option Data Card in his laptop and I still couldn't choose a service.

So I put his 3G Card in my HP NX6110 laptop and I created a new profile and was a able to choose a profile and connect to Vodacom's network, so I know the data card works.

Are their any compatibilty issues with DELL D520.

I had the same problem a while ago. Had to install the drivers for the card before VMC allowed me to select a profile.

The Laptop installs all the data card drivers.
So I don't think its a driver issue

I spoke to my client this morning he said that he is going to reinstall XP on his laptop and he'll let me know if it resolves his problem

Assuming that the drivers are installed fine, this problem is generally due to some missing registry information.

Make sure the following is there...

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Vodafone\Setup\NewProfile]
"InstallType"="Contract"
"Language"="English"
"Country"="South Africa"

Edit: there is no space in "NewProfile"
