I am running OS X 10.9.5 (13F34) and whenever I try updating to Yosemite I get the error message which says "OS X Yosemite failed to download. Use the Purchases page to try again". I tried installing the Yosemite Beta 4 and it refused to install giving the same error message. My computer which is a mid 2013 MacBook Air has 20.4GB free space. All other third party applications and system updates can be updated without problme but when I try updating to the new operating system it gives an error message. As a last resort I connected using the Unotelly servers thinking maybe the problem has to do with limitations on my college WiFi but still keep getting the same error message.

unotelly only routes preselected domains. wont make a difference. you need to tunnel your connection or get on a different (more open) network.

If you can get to any apple store or Digicape you can ask them for the IOS Yosemite file...

Its about 6-8 gigs... Personally never had issues downloading it but i know if you can get the file and paste it in your applications folder you can run the installation as it will do exactly what would be done with the download...

You need a stable connection to download, Had issues where if the connection drops in any way it spoiled my download... thats why i just find it easier to get the file from someone who has it...

Remember if your laptop goes into sleep mode (Which the download wont prevent it from doing) then it will drop the download

anyways...

As for the Beta, It wont install unless you were approved as part of the beta program, This will validate against your account so you wont be able to install it...

Best bet is to get the File or keep trying until the download goes through

Let me keep trying. Meantime I contacted Apple support and still waiting for their response.

Yosemite 10.10.1 is just under 5.2 gigs.
Perhaps try downloading it at an odd hour, like after midnight, since you are on College Wifi, that is, if you are at College then...
