I have noticed a problem submitting large forms (usually with large textareas or file uploads) since we switched to Telkom ADSL.

I've looked everywhere for a solution / workaround but cannot find anything.
The closest i have come is something to do with telkom's rotating ip addresses, but i don't think that's got anything to do with this particular issue.

see: http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=39990

I am sure that the problem has nothing to do with OS or browser as i have tried several alternatives, all without success. The only thing that works is access via 56k dial-up (which shows me that the forms do actually work).

Well, seems like someone else has a similar problem to mine! Thank goodness. I've been going insane trying to solve this, and Telkom aren't any help.

I'm convinded it's Telkom and their transparent proxy or something.

I have multiple websites that i've setup and now maintain, both personally and for clients. All run off Apache with PHP. The problem is when i submit a form with data to update the database. It doesn't do anything and eventually times out.

I've tried 4 different PC's, a different router, windows and linux, IE and Mozilla. NOTHING HELPED.

Funny enough, over modem dialup it's fine and at work over the leased line it's also fine.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem is so we can request techincal support from Telkom. I earn a living from the internet and this is causing lots of problems for me. If i can't get it fixed so i can work i will have to ditch ADSL and go with something else.

Please, someone must have some idea.

Thanks for the help!

Its probably related to tcp mtu sizes. Does it only happen on some sites? Typical I have found that some of the banks block path MTU discovery, which means if there are reduced MTU sizes in use on the path the traffic takes (which often happens with VPNs or PPPOE connections) then you got problems. ADSL modems/firewalls are meant to try and sort this out but sometimes do not get it right. Download a program called DRTCP from dslforum (use google to find it..down right now or I would give you the link) and try change your MTU size to 1200 and see if that fixes it. Bear in mind your will reduce your download throughput marginally by doing that however.

Im having the same problem I cant get proper upload speeds to my websites ftp site. One days its fine and then you try 10 minutes later and its slower than a 33k modem.

And I dont reckon the probelm is on my side or the ftp site either.
