Can't take out new Cell C contract

So about a month and a half ago I got myself a phone from Cell C, the cheap one for R50 per month, just for the DSTV. Fast forward to today, and I really need to get myself some form of wireless internet before next week Wednesday. So I went to the Cell C store today to get myself the 2Gb per month contract, and I was told that no I cannot take out a new contract until at least 3 debit orders have taken place. Is it just me or is that total bull?
I would just get the Telkom 10Gb promo, but I'm going to be in Eshowe for a month and it won't work there. And not particularly keen on getting the MTN one. So is there anything I can do, other than getting it in someone else's name (like my dads)?

best bet to PM the Cell C reps here... They'll be able to assist. Also, if you have R1,499 around, just get the prepaid deal :D

I would understand if it were just for phones, for example, but these are two different things I'm buying! Very much dumbness...

but surely they should consider your nett income etc when it comes to business rules like this. I can understand the risk issue and putting in this business rule to mitigate that but imagine this - a guy earns 100k nett per month and takes a contract out in July. August comes and he loves the service and wants to take one out for his wife - but is unable to. How much risk is it really allowing him an extra contract @ lets say R500pm? They need to come up with a new more dynamic mechanism i reckon...

Exactly. And not just that, my total fees for both contracts would only come to R200pm...

check the coverage for CellC in Eshowe, doesn't look like there is 3G cover anyway

I don't care about 3G, I just need internet. Even if its GPRS. That's better than nothing.

my experience of CellC outside the major centres is you get EDGE on Vodacon roaming and it sucks, not even worth it.

Might be worth it to get a prepaid Cell C sim and try EDGE on Vodacom and Cell C in your area before signing anything.
