If you take the slogan always on and assume you are always downloading on iburst and assume that the 64k connection exists after you reach your cap the theoretical maximum average speed iburst gives over a month is: 83.02kbits/s

calculations:

at 1mbit(~128kbytes) ~3Gb=3145728kB will take 24576 sec = 6hr49mins36sec

a month has at min 28 days=28x24hours=672x60minutes=40320x60seconds=2419200-24576(the time taken to download 3gb)=2394624 sec

2394624x8KB/s(64kbits)=19156992kB+3145728kB=22302720kb=+-21.3GB

22302720/2419200=10.377..kB/sec=+-83.02kbits/s

This assumes you can reach 21.3Gb - This has not been proven possible.

for comparison a true 1mb connection will have the ability to download 309657600Kbytes=295.31GB

if were to assume 30Gb could be downloaded... the speed would be an amazing 104.03Kbits/s regardless if you had 512 or 192 or 1024 connection

More like 600mb per hour which will will take 5hrs to hit the 3g cap, thats assuming the connection stays at 1mbps all the way.

Maybe I'm just tired and reading your post incorrectly, but if you work on 28 days to the month then the max at 1mbps would be around +_403GB

I'm trying to figure out how you get to 2419Gb

An d u definately screwed up ure calculation somewhere, cuz if a 384K line struggles to dowload a 100gigs how the hell are u gonna get 150 gigs at 64kbps

And its not 157gigs its 150.33gigs as u divide by 1024 and not a 1000

64Kbps will allow you to do the theorectical max of 20 gb.
1mbit will allow you to download max of 295 Gb.
(Over 28 day period)

But on current iBurst system, in theory the absolute maximum amount of data you could upload and download in a month is 29 gb. It's physically impossible to do, but it's the max you could pull.

That sounds more like it :D

Crash is right, what I did was take the max speed that I got on the telkom test and multiply it up as to test seburn's theory, and there is noway in hell it could get to those figures.

No iBurst modem could hold 6sec a mb as I worked it out thats for sure.

I changed my calc to include the bit-byte kB-MB & MB-GB rules which I so stupidly forgot.

Even at an unachievable maximum,

The Post still proves its point Capping decreases the speed They could have just given a 84Kbit connection instead but they would rather offer 1mbit connectivity to sell it.

It sounds better doesn't it

This is off topic but I must say the settings in yr sig definately has increased my speed... just yr RWIN is that correct? I thunked it can only go to 65XXX??
