If you are interested in this mild 3 to 4 hour meander around the Cape Peninsula then be sure to enter now : http://www.cycletour.co.za
Entries are limited to 30,000 and within 48 hours of opening it has reached 40% capacity. I'm in, will be my second, and I will be aiming to do it in less that 3h45. Managed it in just under 4h this year. Who else is riding?

Signed up today, first time.

Every year the roadies DOS the server on the first day but every year there are still entries for at least a month.

For what and how far?

Karoo2coast MTB , 100km, Uniondale to Knysna. You're not a true MTB rider until you have done it. Once your are a true MTB rider you then need to do the TransKaroo 240km, then you are a real true MTB rider :p

But back to the Argus, its one scenic route :

Im so fked :erm:
Dude, my sister did it (in 6+ hours) and she did not train much. In fact I think she went to the gym about once a week and that was pretty much it. You'll be fine, even on a MTB with knobby tyres.

Even you just do a few of the rides before the Argus as training you will still be fine. In fact I am confident that you'll have a decent time on the Argus if you simply do the following 8 rides :
Engen Dynamic 95km
Langebaan Lagoon 80km
Tiletoria Express 80km
Die Burger 90km
Tour de PPA 105km
Cape Cobra 90km
Paarl Rotary 126km
Reeds 99er 123km

Just be careful that you do not turn into a roadie and start shaving your legs - that's uncool dude :D

Cycle Tour site itself seems to be holding up fine, but struggling with the credit card processor that seems to be overloaded.

I did it in 6 and a bit hours last time.... with very little training.

I wasn't going to do it this year but have training for the Gun Run and it would be a pity to let all this fitness go to waste.

I promised my self that if I did it again I would train properly so that I can do it in under 4 hours, I love the race but more than 5 hours puts serious strain on your body. 6 hours+ really messes you up and the day starts to get warm making it even harder.

entry done. dont even have a bike yet :wtf:

Go to a bike shop, ask them to help you figure out what size bike you'll need. Then go to thehubsa.co.za and look in the classifieds for a good 2nd hand. The people over there are quite friendly, so they'll be glad to tell you if it is a good buy or not.
