Cape Town wants emptier roads – This is how it’s going to make it happen

trains will start to spontaneously combust again...especially if they want to bring that new rail corridor into existence...

JHB/Pretoria's roads are just as congested.

The difference is the in drivers. All Capetonians drive like shiit, every single one of you. Good God.
ja its not just reserved for wet weather anymore...

Are you the guy driving 60kmph in the fast lane on the N1 in Midrand?

Seems like the how many billions they're spending for the Gautrain upgrades might be better served in CT.
But knowing the DA in the WC they'd want to be priced for international visitors so at the end of the day it won't change the traffic problem. 🤷‍♂️

It wouldn't surprise me if they instituted congestion charges too.

this is not going to happen any time soon!

However, such a system will not be employed in Cape Town until its public transport services are at a point where they are a reasonable alternative for commuters.

they must first stop commuters from getting robbed / hijacked / stabbed / shot or the taxis mafia burning the busses & trains.

In other words they must guarantee the commuters safety at all times! otherwise forget it.

It's going to get worse.
Still lots of refugees incoming.
Companies are pushing harder than ever to return to office.
Public/Model C schools are being pushed to reject kids that live next door and rather take in kids that live far away.

These are the main reasons. I worked with a few black people who are reliant on public transport, they all wish to get a car as soon asap, mainly for safety reasons.

"Raymond Maseko, the Regional Manager of the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (Prasa), spoke about how a train could accommodate as many as 1,200 people, which could theoretically remove 1,200 single-occupant cars from the roads."

Or about 10 taxis....

No offense but I am not sure how you can not know this? It was a thing when I was in school 20 years ago even and it is getting more strict with Bela act admissions policy.

If the area is mainly white they would cap the white kids and take non-white kids from further away (sometimes much further away).

This isn't the thread to discuss redress but from a full roads perspective - it makes matters worse.

Too add, they DA Education Department controls the application process in the Western Cape, so the DA is anti white education?
yes.

In the sense that they have to apply national quota's for learners.

I'm not saying there is anything wrong with your kid, just that others do get de-prioritised based on the colour of their skin.
