I headed home from work early today, with the intention of completing a potentially time consuming work task online. Shock! Horror! When I got home, my UT-D was showing an ugly red light and I had no signal. A few attempts to re-connect failed and when I called the iBurst helpdesk, the first thing I heard was a recording that stated the Cape Town towers were down (CBD, Goodwood, Plumstead, Strand and possibly another).

About two hours lafter, I got back to my PC and saw the familiar 5 green lights. Immediately re-connected and the speeds are blazing right now - 950Kbps+ from Telkom and 657Kbps (!!!) from the US. I guess this could be easilly explained by the fact that nobody has noticed its back yet, OR, was Cape Town connectivity upgraded? This is the fastest I've seen iBurst perform. Will definitely be carefully monitoring performance...

It was actually for about 5-6 hours.. or so I assume... i didn't notice when it first started. But you're right the seeds are great now, just hope they wont fall back to where they were.
I see a couple of joburg towers are also down, anyone know if this would cause a slight speed up as their are less users on the system? Or aren't CPT and Joburg connected at all?

did this start yesterday or only today?
w1z4rd - only today. According to my firewall logs, it went down at about 14:25 and came back at about 19:20, when I attempted to reconnect.
