Cape Town's new level 6 water restrictions kick in

Neither Cape Town Municipality nor Western Cape Government manages the water supply, it is all in the hands of National Government's dept. of Water Affairs, who have done less than nothing.

Neither has money which should be available from the State of Emergency declared by W. Cape government been paid by central government.

The only conclusion one can come to is that this is a deliberate strategy taken by the ANC National Government to create havoc in the Western Cape.

Not many people know that.

So when there is a leak in the infrastructure the national government fixes it?

Judging by the rapid vehicle density increase on the WC roads, I suspect that the major inflow of people to the WC is at the heart of the water shortage.

Yes and no. Yes, too many people for the available supply. No, too little supply available for the people.

There are departments of people whos sole reason for getting a fat pay check is to monitor and estimate the future populations and movements to plan for infrastructure and development. The stats existed 20 years ago, with warnings over and over through the years, but just like with eskom, **** all was done, too busy with loot loot looting.

People should take a look around the whole of SA and see how the water affairs in the anc hands has been handled. Infrastructure expansion that's needed, ignored. Maintenance, just do as little as possible, patch it until next time, etc etc. Read the news, it's country wide so how it's just the DA's fault, only those anti DA could utter their ignorance

Over the past year in Durbanville I cannot recall it raining for more than half an hour at any stage.

When it has rained it's barely been enough to wet the surface.

Times were when it rained non-stop for days..

Move to Newlands, Claremont, Kenilworth, etc. Sometimes rains all day close to the mountain (orographic effect).

No. I said that Nation manages the supply of water, which is the supply and collection of water to dams. Distribution is a municipal competency.

National has done nothing about managing supply to the dams, which means that now there is very little to distribute.

Some people struggle with the concept of overlapping centers of resposibility. About half of the 180 page thread revolves around this circular argument. Seems the same characters have migrated to this thread, which should be merged to protect our sanity!
