So I’m deciding to get a car for my daughter who just got her licence.
Needs to be auto.
New or demo

My options

1. Mazda 2
2. Toyota Yaris
3. Honda Jazz
4. Nissan Micra

So which has a good spec and maintenance plan/service plan for its value.

Hit me

Definitely the Mazda 2, the 1.5 gasoline (auto in this case), spec level Dynamic & above, not Active.

Don't buy new, save yourself a stack of cash & get a minter low mileage one from 2018 or 2019, it's very very similar to the 2020 update.

Then go to your Mazda dealer & pay the (I think it's around R3500) for the retrofit for Apple CarPlay & Android Auto if it doesn't have it already.

You will have piece of mind with a very solid motorcar + she will be a happy camper.

Not sure if you get the VW UP! in auto in SA, but I love my little car!

Sadly the Up! has just been pulled from SA. I'm a fan of it as well. I felt VW SA should have done a better job marketing it here.

There was never a 2 pedal option offered in SA.

Really? Not enough sales? Always wanted one.

Sadly true my man :crying:

Wrt exact reason I would say a combination of lowish sales + cannibalization by the Vivo + crappy marketing.

Just read the article, yeah. No particular reason given. Our car culture has me thinking people opted for a Gti instead.

I'd have an Up! over a Vivo any day. Loving my 1.2 Tsi as well.

Op, I'd choose the Mazda 2 in a heartbeat. Jazz isn't a bad option but Mazda is more interesting imo.

These are all solid choices. I wouldn't get a new drive a new car though, she's likely to scratch and bump it and have friends spill food and drink in it. Do you really care about the spec level? As an 18 year old I was over the moon that I simply got a car.

Very happy with the swift but not sure on the auto. Also they have crappy maintenance plans unless you buy up.

The new Nissan Mica is a nice vehicle also not sure on the auto
