Are you guys really giving him stick for buying a fancy car for his daughter?

What if she doesn't get daddy's money anymore? WTF?
He can obviously afford it. Let her/him enjoy it. Like any of you wouldn't have the same thing if you had the $.

I wasn't giving him stick for spending money on a car - he can buy her a Lambo for all I care. OP said that his daughter will be earning 200k per month once she finishes her degree and I'm just interested to know what degree that is.

@op...The car is very nice and she is very lucky. Congrats

Lockdown caused an overflow of people wanting to impose their sensibilities into others because they hate the fact that people are able to decide for themselves.

Lots of people have lost the ability to control their inner socialist.

Thanks. It’s basically a VW Polo TSI in a fancy suit.

The original plan was a Mazda 2 but I managed to score a huge discount on the Audi so the price difference between the them was around 65k so I took the Audi.

Far fewer features that the Mazda2 but build quality is so much better on the Audi

Congrats on the nice wheels and great bargaining skills

Can guarantee that very few university graduates would earn 200k per month even after 20 years of work experience , never mind somebody that has recently graduated.I can only think that Tron owns a company and his daughter will be the CEO or something high up , so by default will earn that type of salary.Even highly specialized skills wont net you 200k per month. Most of the times its who you know and if you are an executive/manager in a big company.

Who cares if OP bought his daughter a nice car?? So what!!?? I'd rather buy her a new Audi than an old Polo. If she is going to write it off, then I'd rather risk her life in a modern small compact - insurance either-way will pay out whether it's a Polo or Audi, so makes no difference to the OP.

Congrats! I hope that one day I'd be able to do the same for my child if I ever have one. Awesome dad! :)

That is one damn beautiful car, please post a picture with your daughter standing next to the car so we can get some context.

Update.

So my daughter has definitely earned her new car beyond it being a birthday gift.

She has made this dad proud...

She got 7 distinctions in matric and has been accepted to study medicine.

Thanks to all the well wishers esp @genetic and bah to the haters

Congrats on the car and your daughter's results.

I however think you are a bit dillusional on her earning potential, in 7 years when she is an intern doctor I think it is more like R20-30k per month in today's money she would make for for the first 2 years, after that it will jump depending on what path she takes but not to the equivalent of R200k pm, maybe in 15 years she will be earning that if lucky.

Congrats to her! I believe even without the accolades she would still deserve the car, you can spoil you kid however you see fitting. I don't think any parent works hard enough only to let their kid/s suffer! Kudos to you, haters will always hate!

You didn’t realize I was being sarcastic about that?
